Selective Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Vaibhav Kalia as executive vice president and chief investment officer.
In this role, Kalia oversees Selective's investment portfolio and investment-related matters of the organisation's employee benefit plans. He chairs the management investment committee and is responsible for setting and executing the company's investment strategy, balancing risk against projected return.
Commenting on his appointment, John Marchioni, chairman, president and CEO at Selective Insurance Group, said: "His deep expertise in fixed income and risk management, together with more than a decade of experience with our portfolio, has contributed to the strong, risk-adjusted returns that support our insurance operations and create value for our shareholders, making him exceptionally qualified for this position."
Kalia joined Selective in 2014 and advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as senior vice president, senior portfolio manager and head of fixed income. Before joining Selective, he was vice president, risk and quantitative analysis at BlackRock Financial Management and earlier worked in HSBC Bank's structured products division.
