US L/H industry's six-month admitted assets rose 3.9% to $10.28trn

The total US life/health industry's admitted assets of $10.28trn at the midpoint of 2026 were up 3.9% over the preceding six months, according to AM Best.

Prudential of America Group retained the top spot on the list, with its $625.9bn in admitted assets as of 30 June up 3.2%.

Second-place New York Life Group saw its admitted assets increase 4.7% to $502.58bn, and MetLife Insurance Cos. took third spot, with $441.32bn up 2.5% over the six-month period.

Completing the top five were Massachusetts Mutual Life Group with admitted assets of $421.84bn down 0.3%, and Northwestern Mutual Group, which had admitted assets of $413.24bn and a growth of 3.5%.

The only movement in top top 10 carriers saw Athene US Life Group displace Lincoln Financial Group to take the eighth spot with its $380.04bn in admitted assets up 9.3%. Lincoln Financial's admitted assets of $358. 81bn were up by 6.7%.
