The Portuguese Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF) has named Gabriel Bernardino as its next president.

The former chair of EIOPA and president of CMVM succeeds Margarida Corrêa de Aguiar, who has been head of the ASF since June 2019.

While leading EIOPA, Bernardino was rotating chair of the joint committee of the three European Financial Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA and ESMA) and was vice-chair of the European Systemic Risk Board. He was also a member of the executive committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS).
