Man Group has announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with Meiji Yasuda.
Building on a partnership announced in February 2025, Meiji Yasuda intends to increase its capital commitment to Man Group's investment strategies to JPY 200bn (approximately $1.25bn) over the next three years, with a particular focus on private credit. Man Group and Meiji Yasuda will also work together to develop new products for the Japanese market.
The expanded partnership reflects the two firms’ shared ambition to build a deeper, long-term relationship.
For Meiji Yasuda, the partnership provides greater access to Man Group's expertise for the benefit of its clients. This includes knowledge sharing on topics such as technology, as well as access to investment advisory services through the Oxford-Man Institute, helping to strengthen Meiji Yasuda’s own resources. For Man Group, it supports the firm's strategic ambitions to continue growing its private credit platform and serve large insurance clients globally.
In recognition of Man Group’s growth potential, Meiji Yasuda will consider the acquisition of an equity stake of approximately 5% in Man Group to further align their interests. Any acquisition would be in the open-market, with no new shares being issued by Man Group.
Hideki Nagashima, president and group CEO of Meiji Yasuda, said: “Man Group is an important partner for Meiji Yasuda, with extensive expertise in quantitative investment management, AI utilisation, private assets, and other areas. Through this expansion of our strategic partnership, we will further promote access to a broad range of investment strategies, the sharing of advanced knowledge, and personnel exchanges, thereby further enhancing our asset management capabilities."
