Achmea and Lifetri legally merge pension and life insurance portfolios

Achmea Pension & Life Insurance (Achmea), Lifetri Insurance and Lifetri Uitvaartverzekeringen (Lifetri) have legally merged their pension and life insurance portfolios.

De Nederlandsche Bank, as the supervisory authority, approved the transfer of Lifetri’s insurance portfolios to Achmea as part of the legal merger.

The merger follows a deal announced in 2024 between Achmea, Lifetri and Sixth Street.

As the Dutch pension market changed and demand for pension buyouts increased, Lifetri and Achmea agreed to consolidate their pension and life insurance portfolios to create a larger platform and strengthen their market position.

The transaction saw Lifetri become part of Achmea Pension & Life Insurance. Sixth Street retained a 20.45 per cent stake in the combined business.
